This getaway to the north of Norway will allow you to discover the nature and the arctic fauna in a polar setting.
Starting with the capital of northern Norway, Tromsø. The northernmost city in the world, nicknamed "the Paris of the north".
You will continue your journey to the beautiful island of Senja, for fantastic landscapes and polar activities.
Day 1 - Tromsø
Take to the skies to see Tromsø from a new perspective. In just a few minutes, you'll be at the top of Fløyfjellet (420 m) and can enjoy the panoramic view of the city, mountains and fjords.
Grab your e-ticket and get in line to enjoy the cable car and the view! The times on the tickets allow for a large margin of error in case you arrive early or late.
Embark on a magical evening in search of the Northern Lights. On board a bus (48 seats) and with a local guide, you leave Tromsø in search of clear skies, far from any light pollution. When you have found the perfect spot, your guide will take photos (portraits) that you can download from a website, as a souvenir of your evening. To warm up, you will have a hot drink accompanied by biscuits, before returning to Tromsø. The return time depends on your destination (sometimes you have to drive to the Finnish border - 6 hours round trip)
Right on the water, Clarion Hotel The Edge offers modern rooms and Tromsø's only Sky Bar.
Day 2 - Tromsø
What did hunters, trappers and explorers encounter in the Far North? Here at the Polar Museum you can learn about expeditions, daily life and adventures in the Arctic from the 17th century to the present day.
Tromsdalen Church, also known as Ishavskatedralen (Arctic Cathedral), was inaugurated on 19 November 1965.
Architect Jan Inge Hovig has succeeded in creating a masterpiece. The cathedral is a landmark visible from the Tromsø Strait, the Tromsø Bridge and when a plane lands in Tromsø. The 11 aluminium-clad concrete panels on each side of the roof give the cathedral its shape.
The main entrance on the west side is surrounded by a large glass façade with a pronounced cross. The fantastic glass mosaic on the east side was added in 1972.
The glass mosaic is one of the most remarkable works of the artist Victor Sparre. It represents the hand of God from which three rays of light radiate: one through Jesus, one through a woman and one through a man. The glass work contains many symbols and attracts considerable attention from our visitors.
The oak pews, the large prism chandeliers, the altar rail and the pulpit are the most significant elements, all in a style that matches the severity and simplicity of the cathedral.
