After landing at Gardermoen, you will be handed the key to your rental car.  Spend the rest of the day visiting the capital city of Norway. Oslo has a lot to offer : the Opera district, Bygdøy's peninsula and its museums, the fortress of Akershus, the beautiful Rådhus (city hall), and multiple shops and restaurants in Aker Brygge and Karl Johans Gate.

Head towards the North to Dombås. On your way there, you will drive along Mjøsa, Norway's largest natural lake. Enjoy a break in Lillehammer, the city of the 1994 Winter Olympics.

This day will take you to Molde and its mighty fjord, with a stage in Kristiansund. You will also witness the breathe taking wonders of the Atlantic Road, one of Norway's most scenic roads weaving between islands thanks to many bridges.

If you follow the legendary Troll Road, you will be able to have lunch in Geiranger, from where you will embark on a cruise along Geirangerfjord. After enjoying the wonders of the fjord, you will drive to reach Førde.

Head towards Lavik, then Oppdal, and finally Bergen. Norway's second largest city used to be part of the Hanseatic League. There you will find many wonders such as the district of Brygge, the stave church of Urnes, the fish market, along with many shops and restaurants. You can even take a peek to the whole city and harbour from the heights by taking the Fløibanen, Bergen's funicular railway.

The Sognefjord is Norway's longest fjord and has multiple ramifications. On this day, you will discover two of them. The Nærøyfjord, listed as UNESCO World Heritage is reachable by heading to Gudvangen, where you can visit the authentic Viking village of Njardarheimr (also called Viking Valley). If you then head to Flåm, you will discover the Aurlandsfjord, along with Norway's steepest train last stop and museum. Keep on driving towards Sanderstølen. On the way, you will see the famous stave church of Borgund.

Oslo is a European capital city, mixing nature and culture. Between the fjord and Nordmarka forest, the city offers a lot of green areas, such as Frogner Park, where you can see fanous local artist Gustav Vigeland's work (approximately 200 sculptures). The city hosts several museums, such as the MUNCH dedicated to the work of Edvard Munch, the museums at the end of the Bygdøy peninsula or the ski museum in Holmekollen.

Take the train to Gjøvik, a 30,000-inhabitant city located on Mjøsa, Norway's largest natural lake. Our agents will joyfully welcome you and show you around. Gjøvik hosts several attractions, such as the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics ice-rink under the mountain or the DS Skibladner, the world's oldest still operating paddle steamer. You can also enjoy a unique view of the lake from Fredvika sauna. ​

Whereas you choose the summer or the winter for your trip, Skumsjøen is the place to enjoy a typical norwegian day. This lake is located in the middle of the forest, and depending on the season, you will be able to cross country ski on its surface, on sail it with rental canoes. Our agents will join you for lunch and prepare you a typical norwegian BBQ. 

Depending on the season you will take the bus or sail on the DS Skibladner to go to Lillehammer. This 28,000-inhabitant city is famous for hosting the 1994 Winter Olympics. Enjoy the afternoon to climb to the top of the ski jump, or simply visit the city.

Besides being known for hosting a major sport event in the 90's, Lilllehammer is also famous for hosting Maihaugen, one of Norway's larget open air museums. It is dedicated to the country's history and is home for recreations of typical streets, as well as an original stave church. In the evening, try out the local brewery, that serves homemade beers as well as great meals.

Board the Dovre Railway to Kongsvoll. This small hamlet, located on the pilgrimage route from Oslo to Trondheim, is home to some buildings built during the 12th century, on the banks of the river Driva. Take the time to discover these monuments steeped in history. 

Trip Lillehammer-Kongsvoll : 184km, 2h30 by train

This day is dedicated to visiting the Dovrefjell National Park. Your guide will take you to the high plateaus and help you spot musk oxen, some of the last survivors of the ice age. Starting from Kongsvoll, this excursion will take you nearly all day. You will then board the train to Trondheim.

Trip Kongsvoll-Trondheim : 150km, 2h20 by train.

Visit Trondheim, Norway's previous capital city. The city was founded in 997 by king Olav Tryggvason and is closely related to the Vikings. Located on the mouth of the river Nidelva and by the Trondhjemsford, Trondheim is home for plenty of historical landmarks, suck as the Nidaros cathedral or the old city center.

Depending on your flight, you will be able to visit the city a little more. Then take the bus to go to the airport.

From Oslo to Trondheim by train

The 3 first days are dedicated to visiting the capital city of Norway : Oslo. The city has a lot to offer : the Opera district, Bygdøy's peninsula and its museums, the fortress of Akershus, the beautiful Rådhus (city hall), and multiple shops and restaurants in Aker Brygge and Karl Johans Gate.

This day will take you from Oslo to Balestrand, a small town by the fjord. First, you will take the train to Myrdal, one of the most scenic train journeys in Europe. From Myrdal to Flåm, you will take the Flåmsbana, Norway's steepest train. 

In Flåm, you will discover the mighty Aurlandsfjord, where you will take the ferry to Balestrand.

On the 5th day, relax, go on a walk by the Sognefjord, or visit a home-made cider factory. You can even visit a small museum that recounts the history of tourism in this area. The choice is yours.

This day on the water will take you from Balestrand to Bergen, Norway's second biggest city. You will sail on the Sognefjord aboard a ferry and keep on discovering the beauty of Europe's longest fjord. Enjoy the rest of the day to start exploring Bergen.

Bergen used to be part of the Hanseatic League. There you will find many wonders such as the district of Brygge, the stave church of Urnes, the fish market, along with many shops and restaurants. You can even take a peek to the whole city and harbour from the heights by taking the Fløibanen, Bergen's funicular railway.

All good things come to an end. After leaving your hotel, head to Bergen Airport. From the plane, take a last look at Norway from the sky if the weather enables you to.

Enjoy this day to visit the city of Tromsø. You can visit two cathedrals, the Arctic Cathedral or one made out of wood.

This day will take you to Alta through the heart of the Lygnenalps, and by following the Lygnenfjord.

Head towards the North through the beautiful landscapes of Finnmark, until you reach Porsangerfjord. Follow the fjord to Honnigsvåg, the last city before the North Cape. There you can enjoy the region's specialty : the King crab.

On this day you will reach the North Cape. 300 meters above sea level, on top of the cliff, you will find a globe-shaped monument. It was created in 1978 to mark this point as the northernmost landmark in Europe.

Depending on the season, you will either enjoy the midnight sun, or the northern lights.

By going to Hammerfest, you will be able to board the ferry that will bring you back to Tromsø. Sailing alongside the coast, take a look at the Lygnenalps and the Norwegian Laplands. The cruise lasts about 12 hours.

After your polar adventure, your journey comes to an end. Enjoy one last day in Tromsø before returning your rental car and taking your plane.

Slow travel along the Sognefjord

Arrivée à Oslo pour le début de votre périple norvégien. Journée consacrée à la découverte de la capitale. Oslo est lovée au fond d’un fjord somptueux et offre de nombreuses balades autour des lacs, le long de la rivière Akerselva ou dans la forêt de Nordmarka. Dans le parc Frogner, vous pourrez découvrir les œuvres du sculpteur Gustav Vigeland avec plus de 200 sculptures. Oslo est aussi une destination culturelle. Ses musées exposent le patrimoine viking, les tableaux de Munch ou les aventures polaires de Roald Amundsen. Ces dernières années, la ville s’est également dotée de bâtiments modernes conçus par des architectes de renommée internationale comme l’Opéra et le musée Astrup Fearnley.

Vous voici partis en train vers l'ouest du pays. Vous traversez la Norvège et profitez des paysages qui défilent. La ligne ferroviaire Bergensbanen a été désignée l’un des plus beaux voyages en train par Lonely Planet. Il relie 3/11 Oslo à Bergen par le Hardangervidda, le plus haut plateau de montagne d’Europe. Ces voies passent par des paysages superbes et variés, offrant des vues panoramiques sur des montagnes, des lacs et des fjords. Vous descendez à Myrdal, petite station de montagne à laquelle aucune route n'accède ! Montez à bord du Flåmsbana, le train panoramique. Ce train vous mène de Myrdal au village de Flåm, situé au bord du Sognefjord, en seulement une heure. Sur ce trajet de 20 kilomètres, vous pouvez voir les rivières qui ont creusé des ravins très profonds, des cascades dévaler les pentes raides des montagnes enneigées et des fermes de montagne accrochées vertigineusement à des coteaux abrupts. Arrivés sur les rives du fjord.

Croisière sur le Nærøyfjord et train pour Bergen

Vous embarquez pour une croisière de deux heures sur le Sognefjord, le plus impressionnant de Norvège. Le bateau quitte Flåm et s'engouffre ensuite dans le Nærøyfjord, le plus profond et étroit de la région ce qui le rend impressionnant. Il est d'ailleurs classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Une fois de l'autre côté du fjord, un bus vous ramène vers la gare de Voss en empruntant la route de Stalheim : cette dernière vous procurera peut-être quelques frissons avec ses virages en épingles au-dessus de la vallée... Vous terminez ensuite votre périple en train jusqu'à Bergen pour un repos bien mérité. Première découverte de la ville hanséatique. Bergen est célèbre pour les sept montagnes qui culminent sur le centre ville. Pour admirer le panorama sur la ville et ses environs, vous pouvez accéder au sommet du Mont Fløien grâce à un funiculaire ou à pied (environ 45 minutes).

Bergen possède un riche passé. En tant que comptoir important de la Ligue hanséatique, Bergen était un centre de commerce prospère qui reliait la Norvège au reste de l'Europe, pendant plusieurs siècles. Bryggen, (le quai hanséatique) est le témoin le plus marquant de cette époque, où de nombreux restaurants, des pubs, des boutiques d'artisanat et des musées historiques se sont installé ces dernières années. Enfin, ne manquez pas le marché aux poissons qui se tient chaque jour sur le port. Une charmante ville comme Bergen mérite que l'on s'y attarde. Promenez vous dans le quartier de Nordnes, aux ruelles pavées et fleuries, qui a conservé de nombreuses traditionnelles en bois. Les amateurs de musiques pourront visiter la maison d'Edvard Grieg alors que les amateurs d'art se dirigeront vers le musée KODE.

Vous disposez de la matinée pour compléter votre visite de Bergen. Ne manquez pas le marché aux poissons qui se tient chaque jour sur le port. Dans l'après-midi, embarquement à bord du ferry pour Stavanger. Ce dernier suit la côte norvégienne vers le sud jusqu'à vous déposer à Stavanger en début de soirée.

Notre bateau électrique navigue du centre-ville de Stavanger à Lysefjord et Preikestolen. À Fantahålå (grotte du vagabond), vous voyez où les « vagabonds » se cachaient du shérif à l'époque.

Peu de temps après, nous arrivons à Preikestolen, où Tom Cruise a escaladé la montagne dans le film Mission Impossible 6. Ensuite, nous continuons vers l'imposante cascade de Hengjanefossen, où l'équipage rapproche le bateau si près des chutes que vous risquez de vous faire asperger par la cascade !

En chemin, nous nous arrêtons pour nourrir des chèvres dans les pâturages du Lysefjord. Elles adorent nos visites ! L'équipage leur lance des carottes et d'autres friandises. Avec un peu de chance, nous pourrions même voir un phoque prendre un bain de soleil sur un rocher.

Temps libre pour découvrir Stavanger et notamment sa vieille ville qui a conservé tout son charme avec son vieux port et ses maisons des 18ème et 19ème siècles.

Dans le centre se trouve également l'imposante cathédrale du 12ème siècle qui se caractérise par ses deux tours carrées.

Dernière promenade à Stavanger avant votre départ en train. Le train prend entre 7 et 8h pour traverser tout le sud du pays, faisant défiler les vallées, la côte et la forêt.
