Bergen est la seconde plus grande ville de Norvège, forte de 278000 habitants. Son nom vient de la contraction de Bjørg et Vin, qui signifie 'Prairie entre les montagnes'. Elle fut fondée en 1070 par le roi viking Olaf III.
