Le Sognefjord

Discover the Fjords by train and boat

Day 1

Opera de Oslo

Arrival in Oslo for the start of your Norwegian journey.

The day is dedicated to exploring the capital. Oslo is nestled at the end of a magnificent fjord and offers many walks around its lakes, along the Akerselva River, or in the Nordmarka Forest. In Frogner Park, you can discover the works of sculptor Gustav Vigeland with over 200 sculptures. Oslo is also a cultural destination. Its museums showcase Viking heritage, paintings by Munch, and the polar adventures of Roald Amundsen. In recent years, the city has also added modern buildings designed by internationally renowned architects, such as the Opera House and the Astrup Fearnley Museum.

Accommodation: Comfort Hotel Karl Johan or equivalent.

Day 2

Train de Flåm

Panoramic Train to the Fjords

You are now heading west by train. You’ll cross Norway and enjoy the ever-changing landscapes. The Bergensbanen railway line has been named one of the most beautiful train journeys by Lonely Planet. It connects Oslo to Bergen through Hardangervidda, Europe’s highest mountain plateau. This route passes through stunning and varied landscapes, offering panoramic views of mountains, lakes, and fjords. You will stop at Myrdal, a small mountain station with no road access! Then, board the Flåmsbana, the panoramic train. This train takes you from Myrdal to the village of Flåm, located by the Sognefjord, in just one hour. During this 20-kilometer journey, you will see rivers carving deep ravines, waterfalls cascading down the steep slopes of snow-capped mountains, and mountain farms perched dramatically on steep hillsides. Upon arrival, you’ll be on the shores of the fjord.

Accommodation: Flåmsbrygga Hotel or equivalent.

Day 3

Sognefjord

Cruise on the Nærøyfjord and Train to Bergen

You embark on a two-hour cruise on the Sognefjord, Norway’s most impressive fjord. The boat departs from Flåm and then enters the Nærøyfjord, the deepest and narrowest in the region, making it truly breathtaking. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Once across the fjord, a bus will take you to the Voss train station via the Stalheim road, which might give you a thrill with its hairpin turns above the valley. You will then complete your journey by train to Bergen for a well-deserved rest. The first discovery of the Hanseatic city. Bergen is famous for the seven mountains that rise above the city center. To enjoy a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings, you can take the funicular to the top of Mount Fløien or hike up (about 45 minutes).

Accommodation: Zander K Hotel or equivalent.

Day 4

Quartier de Bryggen

Discovery of Bergen, the Hanseatic City

Bergen has a rich history. As an important trading post of the Hanseatic League, it was a prosperous center of commerce that connected Norway to the rest of Europe for several centuries. Bryggen (the Hanseatic wharf) is the most significant reminder of this era, where many restaurants, pubs, craft shops, and historical museums have settled in recent years. Finally, don't miss the fish market, which takes place every day on the harbor. A charming city like Bergen deserves to be explored. Take a stroll through the Nordnes district, with its cobbled streets and flower-filled alleys, which has preserved many traditional wooden houses. Music lovers can visit the home of Edvard Grieg, while art enthusiasts will head to the KODE museum.

Accommodation: Zander K Hotel or equivalent.

Day 5

Croisiere Bergen-Stavanger

Cruise to Stavanger

You have the morning to complete your visit of Bergen. Don't miss the fish market, which takes place every day on the harbor. In the afternoon, board the ferry to Stavanger. The ferry follows the Norwegian coast southward, arriving in Stavanger by early evening.

Accommodation: Comfort Hotel Square or equivalent.

Day 6

Preikestolen

Our electric boat sails from downtown Stavanger to Lysefjord and Preikestolen. At Fantahålå (the Vagabond's Cave), you'll see where the "vagabonds" hid from the sheriff in the past.

Soon after, we arrive at Preikestolen, where Tom Cruise climbed the mountain in the movie Mission Impossible 6. Then, we continue towards the impressive Hengjanefossen waterfall, where the crew brings the boat so close to the falls that you might get splashed by the waterfall!

Along the way, we stop to feed goats in the pastures of Lysefjord. They love our visits! The crew throws them carrots and other treats. With a bit of luck, we might even spot a seal sunbathing on a rock.

Accommodation: Comfort Hotel Square or equivalent.

Day 7

Vielle ville de Stavanger

Stroll in Stavanger

Free time to explore Stavanger, especially its old town, which has preserved its charm with its historic harbor and 18th and 19th-century houses.

In the center, you will also find the impressive 12th-century cathedral, characterized by its two square towers.

Accommodation: Comfort Hotel Square or equivalent.

Day 8

Rogaland

Return to Oslo

A final stroll in Stavanger before your departure by train. The train takes between 7 and 8 hours to cross the southern part of the country, passing through valleys, the coast, and forests.

Arrival in Oslo at the end of the day.
